Agriculture of the Future: solutions must combine technologies to increase productivity, reduce costs and focus on sustainability
APRIL 2018 – The incorporation of precision agriculture technologies, and most recently the adoption of digital agriculture – or Agriculture 4.0 – with the possibility of connecting machines and services, autonomous equipment, drones and big data via internet are transforming landscapes, routines, processes and habits of farmers. Mindful of this scenario and the challenges it poses, Jacto brings innovations aimed to optimize production and ensure more efficiency and profitability to farmers with less environmental impact to Agrishow.
The new agricultural scenario has been closely monitored by the company, which celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2018, and whose characteristic has been to anticipate trends in the sector and be one of the pioneer companies in technology development in Brazil throughout its history.
“Along these 70 years of history, the company has introduced different products and technologies aimed to meet specific needs of farmers in different regions where it is present. The search for innovations is in the company’s DNA. Jacto’s commitment is to ensure access to technologies for farmers so they are more competitive and able to optimize their production”, comments Fernando Gonçalves, Jacto Agrícola President.
For AGRISHOW 25th edition, Jacto has created the Innovation Area to demonstrate technologies, resources and tools present in its equipment that can optimize and reduce production costs, increase competitiveness and provide higher profitability to farmers. The area also aims to show innovative concepts which will soon be available in our products to meet the needs of an increasingly focused agriculture on information management, precision, saving resources and reducing environmental impact.
The area comprises six stations what will demonstrate the technologies as well as a simulator where visitors can have the experience of using our sprayers.
At the spraying nozzle area, the company’s complete portfolio will be available and technical teams will be there to advise visitors and answer their questions.
On one the spraying stations, a new spraying control with PWM technology will be demonstrated. Its main benefit is to keep the pressure and consequently droplet sizes even when there is speed variation caused by any external reason such as uneven terrains for example.
On another station, the Spot Spray technology will be demonstrated. It allows spraying only where there are plants through an optical sensor, reduce cost, environmental impact and resistance of weed to herbicides. This technology is extremely useful in pest and weed control.
The Innovation Area will present Otmis Line products for Precision Agriculture. The highlight will be the launching of Otmni 500 and 700 equipment. Other technologies which can be embedded in the products such as automatic pilot, lightbar and telemetry will also be presented.
Fertilizing technologies present in Uniport 5030 NPK and Tellus 10.000 NPK will also be demonstrated. They complete the innovations we will be introducing to customers along the event.
“Jacto is a technologically advanced company, and for this reason we work hard to anticipate concepts that are later consolidated in the market. This area is to demonstrate innovations available in current products, and concepts that will soon be available in our products with the aim to meet farmers’ demands for greater efficiency and profitability.
Focusing our view on innovations and listening to farmers’ demands is how we prepared ourselves to face the challenges of this increasingly competitive agriculture” analyzes Wanderson Tosta, Jacto Marketing Director.
Check the details of launches and other innovations the company brings to the event:
Uniport 2030 – Jacto expands its self-propelled sprayer family with Uniport 2030 launch. The highlight is that the model fulfils the need for smaller self-propelled sprayers, but with greater traction capacity that allows working in a wide range of terrains. The sprayer has a better performance compared to similar models in the market. It has a tank with capacity for 2,000 liters and boom options of 24 and 30 meters. Its 1.60-meter ground clearance increase Uniport 2030 availability for tall crop plants. The 275-liter fuel tank allows this equipment to have the highest working capacity in this category in the market. The 4x4 hydrostatic transmission together with a powerful 198-vc engine and low weight allow spraying in terrains with 30% slopes. For greater performance and higher spray and operation control, Uniport 2030 still features a complete Otmis technology package for precision agriculture.
Uniport 3030 Canavieiro – Uniport 3030 Canavieiro is one more Jacto launching for spraying. It is the only sprayer specifically designed for sugarcane plantations that seeks the best performance and application quality with less environmental impact and reduction in production costs. Among the sprayer main differentials are versatility to work in tall crops such as sugarcane plantations, more resistant and robust components to work in these crops, which require almost three times the number of working hours compared to cereal crops, and high chemical application precision. Two tire options provide more stability between crop lines and less compaction. Ground clearance can be adjusted at two positions and reach a maximum height of 1.75 m to offer greater versatility in treating crops at advanced development phases. The booms are robust with frame and lifting arms that are more resistant and appropriate to work at field boundaries. The equipment still features a set of hose drops for localized applications.
Uniport 3030 NPK – The new generation of self-propelled fertilizer spreader has been designed especially for localized fertilizer spreading in sugarcane plantations. The 3,000-kg load capacity and fertilizer spreading in 10 simultaneous lines provide high working capacity daily.
The spreading system through air flow delivers high uniformity and drops the fertilizer in the correct place.
Tellus 10.000 NPK tractor fertilizer spreader - the tractor fertilizer spreader has a 10,000-kg hopper capacity and spreads fertilizers at wide widths – up to 50 meters – besides spreading powder fertilizers. Tellus 10.000 NPK is equipped with hydraulic drive transmission, requires tractor with a minimum 110-cv power and works at speed of 4 to 18 km/h. It has two types of hydraulic pump couplings where the customer can choose the one that best adapts to the tractor. In addition, it can work at a maximum 2.70-meter track width with the hopper filled up to the maximum level.
Among the unique technological differentials that promote a new level for fertilizing are: PrecisionWay System, Smartset, Field Boundary Control, Automatic Section Control and Otmis technology package for precision agriculture with Omni 700 which gathers functions such as lightbar (GPS), automatic two-section controller (standard), variable spreading rate (standard) and TerraStar C signal correction (optional item).
42-meter spray booms - In this Agrishow edition, Jacto introduces 42-meter spray booms with a hybrid concept made in steel and carbon fiber. The prototype gathers the steel durability and low cost as well as the carbon fiber lightness and resistance. These features result in the development of large, resistant and lower cost booms. This concept of booms will be presented in Uniport 4530 which can have approximately an operational yield of 90ha/h, 12.5% higher when compared to 36-meter booms. Uniport 4530 crop damage rate is 14% lower with 42-meter booms compared to 36-meter booms.
Arbus 4000 Tower – focused on the citrus market, Jacto presents the Arbus 4000 Tower tractor sprayer. It combines the Tower deflector with the strong tradition in the segment, robustness and safety of the previous models for different orchard sizes. Electrical activation, opening and closing spraying is controlled from the cab. This deflector allows getting the spray nozzles closer to the target, reduce the distance travelled by the droplets as well as the time they exposed to drift elements such as wind and temperature. In addition, the deflector directs the air, improves its distribution, adjusts it to the plant format and avoids energy waste. These features improve the application quality mainly in applications which require more penetration. The equipment also has a removable branch that allows carrying out its maintenance on the ground and provides more agility and safety during maintenance.
Precision Agriculture – Jacto introduces the new Otmis line products. Omni 500 and Omni 700 have been designed to reduce costs and improve productivity in small, medium and large properties. Omni 500 makes spraying easier and ensures access to technology for farmers which was only available for self-propelled sprayers whereas Omni 700 provides greater precision between passes. It also allows using automatic section cutting that provides greater precision and makes spraying easier. The equipment is also equipped with the exclusive Agis Operation Repeater that can repeat, in a second pass, the machine speed profile and the boom height controls recorded by the operator during the application.
Consórcio*: an option for planned purchases and better negotiations – a cash purchase plan to be paid in installments that offer better negotiations and guarantee of delivery. These are the characteristics to purchase machines and equipment through the consórcio modality, an option that has grown in the last years and that presents itself as an important tool for farmers in difficult times to get credit.
